I fell asleep to snow falling furiously on Monday night and then woke up to a sparkling beauty of white snow on Tuesday morning. Brett came into our room to tell me he was making french toast for breakfast because it was a special-snowy-late-start-for-school-day.I exclaimed, "There's no time for that! We've got to go play in the snow!"
"Oh, we already did that," was his reply.
"WHAT!" I scowled. "You did it without me!"
"You were asleep and it was no big deal, anyway. They walked about 10 feet out into the snow, tried to make a snowball and started to cry because it was too cold--both of them. So, then we came back inside and now I'm making french toast."
"You mean they didn't even make a snowman?!"
"No."
"How about snow angels??"
"No."
"That is NOT a snow day in my opinion,"I said as I shook my head.
So at breakfast I asked the kids if they had fun in the snow. I got resounding looks of disapproval and distaste. I asked if they had enough clothes on to be really warm. Wilson looked at me pensively and said, "You know, Daddy went back inside and got another coat for himself--but not for us." Uh-huh. Interesting. That was all I needed to hear. These poor children were under the influence of a sorry-stick-in-the-mud-"I grew up in Arizona"-burrrrr-it's-toooo-cold-father. So after breakfast I bundled them both up *Randy from A Christmas Story style* and sent them out for another go at it.

Well, let's just say they stayed out in the snow for the REST OF THE MORNING. We had to beg Wilson to come inside and get ready for school. Then when he got home from school, he bundled up again and played out in the snow for 2 more hours. I think it's safe to say that my children DO actually like playing in the snow--thanks to me.

Out of all the snow day blog entries I have read so far, yours made me LOL. I can't believe how much snow we got.
I wish you were my Mom then maybe I wouldn't be a "sorry-stick-in-the-mud-"I grew up in California-burrrrr-it's-toooo-cold-mother."
Looks like they had a great time!
Wow -thats fun. The past couple snow days we have had we have been extremely lame - no snow man OR snow angel. Those are the best memories as kids - doing stuff in the snow!
Looks like fun! It's been close to 70 here and this weekend it's supposed to push 80 degrees!! Snow every once in awhile is do-able.
Have fun at the shower tonight...then you can have that "precious little child," A.P.G. tomorrow!! Hang in there...
I'll call you this weekend...
OH MY GOSH! That is a lot of snow. I have to admit my kids are BIG AZ snow babies. When we were in TN it snowed and they only stayed outside for 15 minutes max. When I told Dustin I wanted to take the kids up to UT to go skiing for break, he just rolled his eyes. SO I'm with Brett! BRR! It's cold.
What is that white stuff?
Kaid
Does your snowman have red licorice arms?
Emily--YES! And some licorice hair that didn't stay in very well. It was one of those "look around in the kitchen to see what we've got" situations. Mostly they ended up just eating the licorice.
Don't you just LOVE snow days? I'm glad you convinced them to try it again!
