Galveston B. I. (Before Ike)

We paid close attention to the recent news coverage of Hurricane Ike, because the storm inundated and practically annihilated our most recent and special vacation spot, Crystal Beach/Galveston, TX.

We were there over Labor Day weekend with our friends the Stentzels. We've planned on going back every year and hope the area can recover quickly. Anyway, here is what Crystal Beach looked like B. I. (Before Ike)

P.S. Hurricane Gustav (bad storm, AWESOME NAME) was thinking about visiting us that weekend, but headed toward New Orleans instead. We're glad.

The waves and sand were perfect for the kids. They had a great time frolicking in the surf.

Crazy kids at Bob's restaurant.

Here's wishing the Crystal Beach area plenty of peace in the near future.

That looks like a fun trip! And hey, Kasia, you need to update your profile...unless you're trying to hide Alton's existence from the Secret Service or something. In that case, you probably shouldn't put him in photos either. ;-)

Wow, Kasia! When I started blogging, of all the people I wished to connect with, it was YOU! Occasionally, I would check blogrolls of people we know, in hopes I would find yours. Imagine my surprise when I found Jaron's today, and subsequently, YOURS! You have a beautiful family. I haven't had a chance to read much, but hope to catch up - it has been way, way, way tooooo long.

I think I saw an offshore platform in the background of one of your pictures.
