5 love languages

You might be wondering why I would put a picture of tulips on my blog. Well, let's just say it is a manifestation of Love Language #3: Receiving Gifts. If you have read the book The Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman--you know what I'm talking about (if you haven't read it, I highly recommend it.)

On Friday night, after a long week of car window painting, Andrews Sisters practicing and singing, scouting, dinner making and taking, playground sets together putting, swimming, etc.--I announced to Brett that my LOVE TANK WAS EMPTY! My number 1 love language is Quality Time which I think sometimes is the hardest one for Brett to give me, because we are sooooo busy. He decided that on Saturday, he would do one thing from each of the love languages to help fill my love tank again. I will spare you the cheesy details of the other acts of love, but STILL I thought it was very sweet of him.

Well, here we are on Tuesday morning and my love tank is empty again. Oh well :-)

Gus: The Movie

Sometimes it seems that our life is so crazy, funny, or weird that we could make a movie about our lives. So, we started thinking about who would play the roles of our family if we actually made Gus: the Movie.

We came up with a few ideas, and we want to see what you think. We'll give you two or three choices for each starring role, and you can vote at the end for the actor you think is most suited to play each part.

Summer

Swimming season is here! We are once again enjoying our nice community pool. The kids are constantly craving and requesting a trip to the swimming pool. It's a blast once we get there, but sometimes packing up for the outing can get a little stressful. Here's a list of some swimming "necessities:"

1. beach ball
   
2. sun glasses
3. a good book for mommy (preferably written by Stephenie Meyer)
4. goldfish (of the extra cheddar variety)
   
5. shark goggles (nose plug is on the next Walmart shopping list)
   
6. SPF 50 (if 75 is unavailable)
7. floaties (Maisy is quite the daredevil, swimming solo laps around the big pool)
   
8. towels (for everyone but daddy, who insists, "towels are for the weak.")
9. action figures (to throw to the bottom of the pool and rescue)
10. and, most importantly, the indispensable, beautiful, eye-catching, fluorescent, officially licensed plastic Dora the Explorer grass skirt
    

So, load up the wagon and let's go swimmin' !

Kindergarten Graduation??

Who thought up kindergarten graduation?

This is what I was furiously thinking to myself as I hefted Alton's car seat from the mini-van. I was sweating profusely and the wind had my hair in a tizzy and stuck to my lip gloss. I don't even know why I try to care that my lips are smooth and shiny. As Maisy climbed into the double stroller and we sped off to the gym--I thought:

"This is just a lousy reason to get kindergartners to wear a cap and gown, so we can Oooh and Ahhh over the little munchkins."

For the record I was actually on time, but I did NOT enter the gym on time because I had to park in the neighborhood next to the school and hike on over. Therefore we did not get seats.
BUT when I saw this bright adorable face receiving his mock diploma I must admit that the whole dang thing was pretty darn cute!! So, thank you--to those that put my kindergartner in a cap and gown so that we could have this precious memory forever.

Sore Loser

So I, Kasia, lost the poll by a mere 4 votes. I politely and respectfully conceded realizing the modernity of our day. The popular vote of this widespread survey has illustrated to me that people just can't appreciate the sophistication of baby blue bloomers. I decided to hang my head in quiet resolution and solemnly store the *sissy sailor outfit*-- never to be worn again. To show that there was absolutely no resentment, I chose more suitable attire for church this week.



OKAY, OKAY--so I HATE to lose!! I can't help it.

What can I say?! He's so handsome--he looks good in anything!
