The Blog is Back!

So after a long hiatus, we have decided as a family to bring the blog back.  We are excited to once again record the details of our lives. We are not sure who still reads blogs any more, and our intent is not to become popular.  We see this blog as a way to record our family history.  We recently were looking at our old blog posts and were laughing and laughing at the crazy antics of our family over the past few years.  When we don't record what's going on in our lives, those special memories fade away and are lost forever.  This blog will make sure that doesn't happen.

So today's blog topic is an update.  Where are we now?  Let's start at the top:

Dorian

I say Dorian is at the top because that's where he thinks he stands on our family food chain.  He's going to figure out sooner or later that he is not the boss, but he is not quite there yet.  In reality is is a sweet, smart, determined little boy that knows what he wants and won't stop until he gets it.  That's a good trait, right?  We love our little Deuce, or is it Doodle, or is it DC...

Ace

Ace just completed a very successful baseball season.  He is doing a great job in school and is the nicest boy to have around.  He keeps our family calm and happy and is so obedient and good. He is "acing" first grade, by the way.

Maisy

Maisy is our busy 4th grade girl. She has so many interests and wants to do everything!  Probably because she does everything so well.  Piano, dance, Melissa Youth Onstage, Activity Days, Yearbook, man I am getting tired just typing all these activities.  Through it all she stays happy and is a ray of sunshine in our lives.

Wilson

Wilson is in 7th grade, and he is having all sorts of great new experiences.  He recently completed a successful cross county season on his middle school team, and is now playing basketball.  He ran the Tulsa Run last month and finished toward the top. His attitude is awesome and he is learning what is means to be a good example as a big brother and friend.  He is now a deacon in our church and fulfills his duty well.  I can't believe what a fine young man he is becoming.

Kasia

How come I feel like I'm typing one of those cheesy Christmas letters that nobody likes to read? Anyway, Kas is the glue that holds our family together. She keeps us grounded and helps us stay organized and happy.  She is the best mom! And may I mention that she gets more beautiful as time goes by?  She is working with the young women at church and changing lives.  She is my inspiration.

Brett

And then there's me.  I am trying hard to keep my head above water with some new church responsibilities (more on that later, I'm sure), and all the other wonderful things going on.  I must mention that I am a member of the McKinney "D" League Fall League CHAMPION softball team.  Oh yeah!  I still love teaching Spanish at Melissa High School, and I love my family more than anything else.

So there's your Gus update.  We are happy, healthy, and ready for whatever life brings us next.  We are going to try and keep our blog updated at least weekly. Wish us luck!

I'll read your blog! :) I'm glad that you are bringing it back. I've kept ours up for the exact same reason. I love to print our yearly blog books, and I feel like they are our family journals. I attempt to do at least one a month, so good luck and keep it up! Miss you guys!
