Here we are at the brickyard. The early Nauvooians had some brickmaking SKILLS! The missionaries gave Wilson and Maisy their own bricks to take home. Wil then proceeded to use his brick as chalk and Maisy used hers as a cell phone.
We also saw the Monument to Women at the garden next to the visitors' center. Wil and Maisy loved interacting with the statues.
We loved the authentic period clothing of all the volunteers. Maisy reluctantly posed for this picture at the Scovil Bakery with the promise of a gingerbread cookie waiting for her if she complied.
One of our favorite events in Nauvoo was the Sunset on the Mississippi River. It was a variety show with singing and dancing performed on the bank of the Mississippi River. Before the show began, all the children made hats and participated in a PARADE. Wilson and his best friend Zoe led the parade while shaking their tambourines. Maisy was close behind enjoying every minute of the spotlight.
One of the most special places we visited was the Nauvoo Temple. It is a breathtaking temple that suddenly appears at the top of the hill as one enters Nauvoo. It is just a beautiful place.

We went last year for pioneer day, and might make a trip back this year we loved it so much! Was the humidity pretty high yet? Last year it was almost unbearable... there's a story with that, and it ends with me running to the store for some gold bond medicated powder for poor Jeff.
Glad you had fun!!
PS-- Did you go see the carthage jail?
what a great experience! my family was in the city of joseph pageant there for 5 years when i was a teenager. And yes to emily, i'm sure it was hot and muggy.
Haven't been there since the temple was built, but looking at your experience makes me want to go!!
Oh how fun!!! I love Nauvoo too! We last went right before the temple was dedicated to the open house (was that really 5 years ago??). It was beautiful, now we need to go back so we can take our kids!
The humidity wasn't too bad. It rained a little bit which helped keep the temp down. That was nice; because hot and humid is a bad combo as we all know. Oh, and don't worry Jeff...Brett is familiar with medicated powders.
